William Porcher Dubose reminiscences, 1836-1878 [manuscript].

The collection consists of a typed transcription of Dubose's reminiscences. It contains informal recollections by Dubose of his childhood on Farmington and Roseland plantations in Fairfield County, near Winnsboro, S.C., including discussion of his education at Mt. Zion Academy, the Citadel, and the University of Virginia and theological studies at Camden, S.C.

William Porcher Dubose served as a Confederate soldier and chaplain in Virginia and was captured and imprisoned at Fort Delaware. During Reconstruction he was an Episcopal minister in Abbeville and Winnsboro, S.C., and became a theologian at the University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn., in 1871.
